Sirsa bar association president Ganga Ram Dhaka said that a delegation of lawyers was scheduled to meet the superintendent of police on Tuesday, but the meeting could not take place after news emerged of the death of a lawyer and 2 members of his family, prompting the lawyers to leave.
Dhaka said the attack was not an assault on an individual lawyer, but on the legal fraternity as a whole. He demanded the immediate arrest of the accused, identified as Pramod.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on Jan 17, when advocate Kewal Singh Kamboj had a dispute related to payment of a bill. It is alleged that Pramod Tak repeatedly called the lawyer and asked him to meet. When Kewal Singh went to him to seek payment, an argument ensued. During the altercation, Pramod allegedly struck the lawyer on the head with a sharp-edged weapon, causing serious injuries.
